The 2010 Cypress – SBA Matchmaker Event is a unique opportunity where small businesses and buyers of goods and services can meet and connect. The City of Cypress and SBA Officials welcomed 110 buyers and sellers.  Sellers represented large businesses and government agencies interested in supporting small businesses by contracting with them for purchases of goods and services. Buyers were from city, county, state and federal agencies, as well as large prime contractors, utility companies and port authorities. They were looking for small subcontractors and other organizations with combined purchasing budgets ranging in the millions of dollars to participate.

AGENT Inaugural Meeting
The inaugural meeting of the City of Cypress’ Assist, Grow, Educate, Network & Thrive (AGENT) program was held on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the Cypress Community Center. Over 40 Cypress small business owners participated. This meeting is the kickoff of a series of free educational meetings to address the needs of the Cypress small business community.

The topics of discussion included survival tips to help the Cypress business community survive and thrive, the 2009 Economic Stimulus Package and what’s in it for Cypress businesses, government contracts and learning the process of obtaining the necessary certification to get those contracts.
